Germany, the land of sausage and beer, isn’t known for its fine dining. But with the 2013 edition of the German Michelin Guide, that perception is starting to shift. In the last two years, German chefs have pulled down Michelin stars at an impressive rate. France may have to look over its shoulder.

I wonder if German cuisine is exportable beyond their borders and beyond the comfort food of gourmet hot dog vendors and bavarian beer faire. Who will be the celebrity chef carrying the black-red-gold torch?
