There’s a lot of talk about ‘responsive web design” floating around among designers and developers. Some swear by it, saying that if a website doesn’t scale to every monitor dimension you hate your customers others think it’s a useless gimmick only used by people with too much time on hand.
I don’t really know where I fall in that debate. On one side, do I hate the idea of having to build multiple iterations for a specific site, reminds me to much of the browser wars of the late 90’s. On the other side do I love the “responsiveness” of the content. It feels like the right customer service decision.
But one thing that I wonder is, if responsive design, and even app design for that matter is the future, why then has Apple not redesigned their website responsive? And for that matter, why don’t they have an app that displays their website in app form?
Makes you think.
